Hyundai has finally launched its new ix25 compact SUV in the Chinese market. The Korean auto giant is offering the SUV with two engine options and six variants. The Hyundai ix25 comes with a 1.6-litre engine that produces 125 HP of power and 151 Nm of torque. There is another 2.0-litre engine that gives out 160 HP of power and 192 Nm of torque. Hyundai offers a 6-speed manual transmission with the base variant that comes with the 1.6-litre unit as well as an automatic gearbox on other variants of the ix25. The top variant will be offered with 4WD too.
We have already discussed how the Hyundai ix25 looks and appeals. The styling reminds us of its elder sibling, the Santa Fe. The SUV looks imposing and Hyundai hasn’t really gone wrong on the design front. There are some clever styling bits too. The interiors look premium with typical Hyundai flare. It is loaded with features like electronic dual LCD display, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, LED DRLs, electric mirrors, cruise control, automatic AC, dimming rear view mirror, VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and reverse parking sensors.
All in all, the Hyundai ix25 is a promising vehicle. We cannot wait for it to come to India and test it out. Knowing Hyundai, we know they will price and spec the vehicle very competitively and aggressively. The Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Mahindra XUV500 will have a major reason to worry. Maruti’s upcoming compact SUV will also fight it out with the Hyundai ix25. The ix25 will be launched in India in 2015, it’s the next big launch by the Korean automaker in our country.
